KUCHING, June 10: The Anglican Diocese of Kuching will officially launch The Anglican Columbarium Kuching next Tuesday (June 16), providing a new memorial facility with 9,582 niches to serve Christians across denominations in Sarawak.
The columbarium, located along McDougall Road, will be inaugurated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a ceremony scheduled for 3pm.
Supported by the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), the facility was established to provide a dignified and sacred resting place for the faithful departed while addressing the growing need for columbarium services in Kuching.
Although developed by the Anglican Diocese of Kuching, the facility will be open to Christians from all denominations, reflecting the Diocese’s commitment to serving the wider Christian community.
The Anglican Columbarium Kuching offers three types of niches — Single Niche, which accommodates one urn; Double Niche, which accommodates two urns; and Modified Double Niche, which accommodates two urns with an alternative design.
Public viewing and bookings will commence after the official launch on June 16.
According to the Diocese, niche prices start from RM7,000, depending on the type and level selected. The prices do not include urns, engraving services, cremation costs or other funeral-related expenses.
Guided by the values of faithfulness, remembrance and hope, the columbarium is designed to provide families with a serene and prayerful environment to honour and remember their loved ones.
Situated in the heart of Kuching, the facility is intended to stand as a lasting testament to the Diocese’s commitment to preserving the memory of those who have gone before in faith.
For enquiries and reservations, the public may contact The Anglican Columbarium Kuching at 019-8491848 or visit its official website at www.anglicancolumbariumkch.org. — DayakDaily
