SIBU: The Red Crescent Flag Day is not just a day to raise awareness but also a call to action, said Councillor Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley.
The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairman said that the programme was an opportunity for each of us to contribute to a cause greater than ourselves.
“Every donation and every gesture of support helps extend the reach of the Red Crescent’s vital work, ensuring that help is available for those who need it most, both locally and globally,” he said.
He relayed this during the launching of Red Crescent Flag Day, organised by the Malaysia Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu branch at Sibu Central Market today (Aug 3).
He added that the Red Crescent, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, has a long-standing tradition of providing critical support in times of need, whether through disaster response, health services, or community aid.
“Your presence here today shows a tremendous spirit of community and compassion.
“I encourage each of you to join us in this noble effort — whether by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about the Red Crescent’s mission.
“Let’s make this Flag Day a symbol of hope and solidarity for all,” he added.
Also present was MRCS Sibu chairman Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee.
