KUCHING, Jan 27: A Continuous Rain Warning (Alert) has been issued for parts of northern Sarawak, with Bintulu, Miri and Limbang expected to experience prolonged rainfall from Jan 30 to Jan 31, 2026.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the warning was issued due to the risk of persistent rain that could lead to flooding and other weather-related disruptions in the affected areas.

In a significant weather forecast, MetMalaysia said analysis of weather models indicates that a northeasterly wind surge is expected to enter the country from Jan 29 to Feb 4, which may bring continuous heavy rain, strong winds and rough sea conditions during the period.

The department added that the weather pattern could further intensify rainfall over Sarawak, particularly in northern areas.

The public is advised to stay alert and obtain the latest weather updates through MetMalaysia’s official website, the myCuaca mobile application, and the department’s official social media channels. — DayakDaily
