Contractor hit over RM10-million jackpot with dream numbers

KUCHING: A 54-year-old renovation contractor from Sarawak struck a RM10.17-million Toto 4D Jackpot after betting on numbers inspired by a dream.

The father of two won RM10,169,557.55 in the September 26 draw with the winning number combination of 8622 and 5765.

According to STM Lottery Sdn Bhd in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 7), the winner had been a regular Sports Toto customer for more than 30 years but had only placed bets on the dream-inspired numbers twice.

“It was just the second time I bet on these numbers. I never expected the numbers to bring me such a huge win. It is something that I am still taking in,” the winner said.

The contractor, who typically spends about RM50 weekly on Toto 4D Jackpot tickets, recalled purchasing the winning ticket while having lunch near one of his renovation project sites.

He noticed a Sports Toto outlet beside the restaurant and decided to try his luck with the same numbers again.

“Something made me decide to buy the same numbers again. I did not think much of it at the time,” he said.

Despite discovering his windfall after checking the results on the Sports Toto website that night, the winner said he remained calm and even managed to sleep well.

He later collected his winnings at the STM Lottery head office in Kuala Lumpur.

When asked about his plans for the prize money, the contractor said he had yet to make any major decisions but intended to manage the windfall carefully.

“For now, I intend to keep the money prudently and set aside a portion for the future well-being of my children.

“I believe it is important to plan carefully before making any major decisions,” he said.

STM Lottery confirmed that the winning System 4 ticket earned the contractor RM10,169,557.55, along with an additional RM672 in System Play bonus winnings.
