KUCHING (Aug 22): The Sessions Court here today allowed applications made by the Sarawak Enforcement and Security Unit (UKPS) for the forfeiture and disposal of a forklift and 330 pieces of forest produce, after the last known owners failed to come forward to claim them.
Judge Musli Ab Hamid allowed the application filed in pursuant to Section 79(3) of the Forests Ordinance 2015, and Section 407A of the Criminal Procedure Code.
In his application, UKPS officer Paddril Peter told the court that the forklift was seized together with forest produce consisting of rough sawn timber and wooden planks on March 7, 2024 at an unnamed premises in Kampung Serasot, Bau.
The vehicle together with forest produce had remained unclaimed despite notices issued and attempts made to contact the last known registered owner to submit any claims over the seized exhibits.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronald Felix Hardin from the State Attorney-General’s Chambers appeared together with Paddril and fellow UKPS officer Wan Fadzilah Wan Saili during the proceedings.
