BINTULU: Ghost Speed Racing Team cyclist, Laurel Lauridsen Adrian emerged champion of Bintulu 2024 Mountain Bike (MTB) Men’s Open category after clocking one hour, 13 minutes and two seconds at the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) MTB Track, Tanjung Batu, on Sunday.
Sarawak MTB Development team riders, Aidil Syahmizan Abdul Rahim and Zukri Tahir representing the GKAB team, finished the podium with second and third placings respectively.
Aidil Syahmizan recorded a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 10 seconds while Zukri recorded a time of 1 hour 19 minutes 18 seconds.
Supian Nor won the Men’s Masters B category after recording a time of 52 minutes 58 seconds, followed by Rozaine Ratu in second place with a time of 59 minutes 26 seconds, while Ikhwandy Zen took third place with a time of 1 hour 7 minutes 34 seconds.
The first place in the Men’s Master A category was held by Zukri Tahir with a time of 1 hour 02 minutes 22 seconds followed by Mohd Ridzuan Yussof and Mohd Razif Mohd Salleh in second and third place respectively, each with a time of 1 hour 4 minutes 30 seconds.
The Junior category saw the first place won by a rider from Sarawak MTB Development, Mohd Zakwan Zamahari after completing the round with a time of 1 hour eight minutes 30 seconds followed by Nur Azri Erwandi (Solidarity Cycling Club) with a time of 1 hour eight minutes 30 seconds and Muhammad Fiqri Iqbal Kadir (Sarawak MTB Development) with a time record of 1 hour eight minutes 49 seconds.
Meanwhile in the Women’s Open category, Nurfara Ain Nabela Abdullah Hafiz took first place with a time of 1 hour 12 minutes 02 seconds, followed by Nur Ain Ramadhania Abdullah who got second place with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes 02 seconds, and Naina Adriana Idris got third place with a time record of 1 hour 18 minutes 09 seconds.
While the Bintulu Closed category saw a rider from Sarawak MTB Development, Aidil Syahmizan Abdul Rahim and his teammate, Mohd Zakwan Zamahari take first and second place respectively followed by Muhammad Syahmi Hafeh from Solidarity Cycling Club winning third place.
Prizes to the winners were presented by political secretary to Sarawak Premier Angellie Stephen Raja, BDA deputy chairman Datuk Haidar Khan Asghar Khan and BDA general manager Datuk Muhammad Yakup Kari.
