The workshop is open to secondary school students, especially Form 4, Form 5 and UEC Senior Middle students. Participation is free.

The workshop aims to educate secondary school students on the right perspective of esports, emphasising healthy gaming, abuse of/and addiction to videogaming; how to get the benefits of esports; and career and business opportunities of esports.

“esports actually can help students develop various vital skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, leadership, digital literacy and engagement.

“It’s way more than just a game, the advantages of esports include career opportunities, boosted brainpower, teamwork and communication, entrepreneurial opportunities, education and scholarships, mental wellbeing and financial rewards,” the release said, adding that it is more than just fun.

It pointed out that in esports, teamwork and communication are important.

“Players learn how to collaborate, plan strategies and talk effectively with their teammates,” it said, adding that these skills come in handy both at work and in everyday life.
