KUCHING, June 1: With Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the helm, Sarawak is already recording major achievements ahead of its goal of becoming a developed and high-income State by 2030.

In a TVS report, former Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang said among the key highlights is that Sarawak had achieved high-income State status by World Bank standards.

At the same time, he noted that the State government has placed strong emphasis on human capital development through initiatives such as free tertiary education for eligible Sarawakians, creating greater opportunities for young people to compete on the global stage.

Jabu also commended the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen rural development through improved infrastructure connectivity, particularly road networks that can unlock new economic opportunities for communities in the interior.

In addition, he expressed confidence that strategic projects such as AirBorneo, the construction of a new international airport, and a deep-sea port would further strengthen Sarawak’s position as a competitive economic hub in the region.

“Many foreign countries have expressed interest in collaborating with and investing in Sarawak because they see political stability, good governance, a strong legal framework, and prudent financial management.

“We are pleased to have a stable government, strong leadership, a capable civil service, and people who continue to lend their support,” he said.

He added that with strong leadership, public support, and an efficient civil service, Sarawak is on the right track to realise its long-term development agenda and deliver benefits to all Sarawakians.

Meanwhile, speaking on the Premier’s visit to his Gawai Dayak open house, he said his presence at every Gawai Dayak celebration reflects his commitment to staying connected with the people and understanding their aspirations at the grassroots level.

“We are grateful that the State leadership is always with the people during Gawai celebrations. A good leader genuinely cares for the people, is humble and compassionate, and possesses a visionary plan to transform Sarawak into a developed and progressive state by 2030,” he said. — DayakDaily
