MIRI (July 25): An unoccupied house in Piasau Camp here was slightly damaged after a fire broke out at the front porch this morning.

Lutong fire station chief Henry Jugah said a member of the public reported the outbreak at 9.24am, prompting a team from the station to rush to the scene located some 10km away.

“The team took about nine minutes to extinguish the fire. Damage to the house, measuring 150×50 square feet, is estimated at five per cent,” he said in a statement.

He said overhaul works were then carried out to ensure the fire would not reignite.

The operation was wrapped up at 10.02am, with the cause of the fire under investigation.
