Fire severely damages student dormitory in SMK Song 1

SIBU (July 22): A two-floor student dormitory in SMK Song 1 in Song, near here was severely damaged in a fire yesterday,

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said the upper floor of the dormitory was completely destroyed, while firefighters managed to save the lower floor from going up in smoke.

Andy said a call on the incident was received at 4.15pm and firefighters from Song fire station were deployed to the scene.

“After confirming that there were no victims involved, the firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire using the offensive and defensive techniques,” he added.

After ensuring that the fire was fully extinguished, the firefighters ended the operation at 6.26pm.

Andy said no injuries or casualties were reported.

The cause of fire and losses are still under investigation.
