MUKAH: A total of 3,139 students in Mukah Division have benefited from the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES).

Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah highlighted the initiative while outlining human capital development policies.

“This scheme has successfully ensured that no children drop out of higher education opportunities due to financial constraints,” she said.

She said this in her speech at the launch of the Mukah Division ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ Programme at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja this morning (Oct 3).

Under skills and technical education, Fatimah noted that state-owned institutions such as CENTEXS Mukah and CENTEXS Dalat are operating smoothly to meet both state and local industry needs.

“CENTEXS Mukah and Dalat offer 18 and 16 skill-based programmes respectively, including oil and gas as well as Robot Operating System (ROS).

“To date, CENTEXS in the Mukah Division has produced 3,139 skilled graduates, providing them with a foundation to build their respective futures,” she said.

Additionally, she highlighted that University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) Laila Taib Campus Mukah is the only campus in Malaysia equipped with advanced marine and maritime technology facilities to support the shipping industry in Tanjung Manis District and Sibu Division.
