MIRI (Oct 19): The Sarawak government is fulfilling its commitments to the people by actively pursuing infrastructure and utility projects meant to enhance connectivity and essential services, said Datuk Gerawat Gala.

The Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) said that although the projects may take longer than anticipated to be completed, the efforts reflect the state government’s commitment to improve the quality of life for residents residing in rural areas.

“The Tutoh community will be blessed with new roads connecting villages in the area to Marudi, Miri, Limbang, as well as Long Lama.

“The project, which was recently announced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, is set to commence in 2025.

“Additionally, the state government is actively working on the Clean Water Supply Plant project and the reconstruction of Rumah Jambu in Long Terawan.

“These projects may not be completed in time for next year’s Easter celebrations, but rest assured that the works will continue until full completion,” he said.

Gerawat said this when officiating at the Persatuan Dicu Kitah’s Irau Easter 2025 fundraising dinner held at a local hotel here on Friday.

He praised the communities of Long Terawan and Tutoh Apoh for their support in making the dinner a success, which was held to raise funds for the association’s Irau Easter 2025, set to be held in Long Terawan.

“In my opinion, the success of this event is not only credited to the active participation of support from the people in these areas, but also from the support of our friends in Brunei as well as representatives from Persatuan Berawan Sarawak, Persatuan Kiput Sarawak, Rurum Kelabit Sarawak, Persatuan Saban Sarawak, Persatuan Wanita Orang Ulu Miri, and more.

“Therefore, as host of the Irau Easter 2025, all preparations are in place so that it runs smoothly and provides a memorable experience to all those attending,” he said.

During the dinner, Gerawat announced that he will be contributing RM30,000 for the association’s Easter celebration, while Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau will both be contributing RM10,000 each.

Moreover, Gerawat revealed a contribution of RM5,000 to support the yearly activities of the village security and development committee (JKKK) of Kuala Tutoh.
