KUCHING, Aug 22: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of Sarawak until nightfall today.
Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong, Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei, and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, and Miri (Miri and Marudi).
The warning, which was issued at 4.20pm today, will remain in effect until 6pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
