KUCHING (Oct 17): The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) is ready to cooperate with the Sarawak government to ensure the state’s plans can be implemented smoothly, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Zambry said this includes the aerospace programme introduced by the Sarawak government at higher learning institutions.
“The Premier had also informed me about the (aerospace) programme and this was discussed during our meeting. I’ve conveyed that at the university level, we are ready to provide our cooperation.
“I understand that a team from our IPTA (public institutions of higher learning) is also involved to ensure that the Sarawak government’s plans can be carried out effectively,” he told reporters after his ministry’s courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here yesterday.
On his visit to Sarawak, Zambry said it was in conjunction with the proclamation of Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) chancellor.
“In general, we discussed and exchanged views on the current state of higher education, particularly in Sarawak. I observed the significant progress in human resource development, which includes university-level programmes.
“We also discussed future plans, including the development of a long-term education blueprint. Currently, we are in the process of creating a new plan for 2026 to 2035. That was the overall focus of my discussion with the Premier of Sarawak,” he added.
