MIRI (July 14): The Lutong Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) has launched the ‘MYY Usahawan Muda’, a rebranded JCI initiative designed to empower children aged 7 to 12 with financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills.

In this regard, the chapter calls upon all aspiring young business leaders to join the programme, set to kick off this July 20.

Building on the success of the previous ‘Little Boss’ programme last year, the project has impacted more than 45 children from various schools and ethnic backgrounds, said the organisation in a press release yesterday.

“This year, MYY Usahawan Muda returns with a more engaging three-day event – the ‘Workshop Day’, ‘Business Talk Day’, and the ‘Carnival Day’, where all sessions will be packed with learning and practical experience,” said JCI Lutong in a statement.

“Through the Workshop Day scheduled on July 20, the children will unleash their creativity with DIY product creation workshops led by experts.”

On the ‘Business Talk Day’ on July 21, the children would have the opportunity to sharpen their communication skills, learn presentation techniques from ChampSpeak and also gain valuable insights on managing finances from Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd.

The event would be concluded with ‘Carnival Day’ on July 28, at the Permaisuri Imperial Mall here, where the participants would showcase their entrepreneurial skills by running their own booths at the carnival.

“MYY Usahawan Muda goes beyond financial literacy and entrepreneurship. This year’s programme integrates zero-waste principles, encouraging participants to consider sustainability in addition to creativity and marketing skills to promote their products.

“The programme is also committed to making a positive impact on the Miri community, whereby proceeds from the event will be used to raise funds for the Miri Hospital’s eye clinic, specifically to purchase a Tonopen – a vital piece of medical equipment,” said JCI Lutong.

Limited slots are available, and closing date for registration is July 17.
