SERIAN (Dec 22): N22 Kedup emerged as the Women’s Football Championship winner of the ‘YB Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem Cup’ tournament, after edging defending champions D Samarahan FC 1-0 in the fierce final at SK St Dominic Pichin here on Sunday.

The two-week game gathered not only local teams and those outside the constituency, but also visitors from Indonesia, adding a regional flavour to the competition.

Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, who officiated at the closing ceremony, believed that the standard of women’s football showcased throughout the championship was on par with international tournaments, particularly with the involvement of teams from Indonesia.

He also congratulated all teams that competed in the 2025 edition, noting that the tournament had contributed to raising the level and visibility of women’s football in the area.

N22 Kedup booked their spot in the final with a 1-0 victory over RWR FT in the first semi-final, while D Samarahan FC advanced after defeating Mukah FA 4-1 in the second semi-final.

Mukah FA finished third to receive RM1,000 in cash, along with a trophy, medals and other prizes, while RWR FT placed fourth and took home RM500.
