KUCHING: The spirit of Islamic New Year filled the air today as the official flag of the Maal Hijrah Festival 1446H/2024 (FMH 1446H/2024) was hoisted at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak.
The ceremony, organised by the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS), signifies the start of the annual event.
Its chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai officially completed the ceremony by handing over the flag to a designated bearer from the LAKMNS Auxiliary Police Unit.
This festival aimed to enhance the celebration of the Islamic New Year within the surrounding area.
The event also served as a platform to showcase mosque activities and solidify Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak’s role as a hub for wholesome recreational pursuits.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle based on religious values is a key objective, he said.
FMH 1446H/2024 carries the theme “Al-Falah Pemacu Malaysia Madani” (Al-Falah: Propelling Malaysia Madani) and is taking place from July 12 to 14 (Friday to Sunday) at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak.
