KAPIT (Aug 24): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will pay a visit to Kapit this coming Sept 29.
In this regard, a meeting was held on Thursday afternoon chaired by Kapit Division Resident Galong Luang at the Bletih State Complex on preparations and to finalise the programme for the Prime Minister’s visit.
Attending the meeting were officers from the Prime Minister’s Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, Federal Secretary’s Office, State Security Council, Public Works Department, Police Department and all heads of government departments in Kapit, Song and Bukit Mabong districts.
When contacted, Galong said the Prime Minister will fly in by helicopter from Sibu.
He said the Prime Minister will then attend a development briefing at Sri Baleh Guesthouse before proceeding to Kapit Civic Centre for the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ (Leader with the People) programme after which he will visit the proposed site for the new Kapit Police Headquarters along Jalan Bletih and visit the site for the proposed bridge across the Rajang River at Sungai Yong and attend the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme at Rumah Robert Ngelumbang, Nanga Sebatu.
Anwar first visited Kapit when he was the deputy prime minister in 1997. He visited Kapit again in 2018 during the Reformasi movement and in Dec 2021 to campaign for a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for Katibas in Song.
His visit on Sept 29 will be his fourth to Kapit Division.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi are expected to accompany the Prime Minister during the ‘touch and go’ visit.
