Man fined RM500 for unlawful possession of used car parts in Miri

MIRI (Aug 5): The Magistrates’ Court here today fined a 25-year-old man RM500 in default one week jail for possessing several items believed to be unlawfully obtained.

Senior assistant registrar Mohammad Helmi Ahmad Jani fined Bagio Yaltry Ramba of Suai, Niah on his own guilty plea to a charge under Section 37(1) of the Sarawak Minor Offence Ordinance 1958.

The Section provides for a jail term of three months or a fine of RM500.

According to the facts of the case, Bagio was found to be in possession of three used car oil filters, two used car drive shafts, and one iron air conditioner mounting stand holder, suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.

He committed the offence on Aug 1, 2024 at around 12.46pm at a workshop in Kampung Haji Wahed here.

Insp Mudzilawati Abdul Rahman prosecuted the case while Bagio was unrepresented by legal counsel.
