Man in Kuching pleads guilty to abusing drugs, fined RM5,000

KUCHING (Aug 23): The Sessions Court here today fined a 41-year-old man RM5,000 in default six months’ imprisonment for abusing drugs six years ago.

Judge Musli Ab Hamid convicted Bonnie Tanuk on his own guilty plea to a charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.

The court also ordered him to undergo immediate supervision by the authorities for a period of two years.

Bonnie was charged with abusing amphetamine and methamphetamine at a house in Batu Kawa Resettlement Scheme here at around 12.45pm on June 20, 2018.

ASP Arman Ibrahim prosecuted the case, while the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel.
