KUCHING, July 13: The online system for the revamped Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme for applicants’ use is currently in development, says Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Dato Seri Tiong King Sing.
Tiong, in a Facebook post today, clarifies that rumours about MM2H applications being handled solely by agents are untrue, and some procedures can soon be conducted through the upcoming online system.
“Currently, the online system is under construction, and I have instructed the ministry officers to expedite the work. This online system is also the wish of Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
He said the revamped MM2H programme was officially launched and will come into effect on June 15, where participants have been categorised into Platinum, Gold, and Silver groups.
He also said that the qualifications and conditions for agents have also been reworked to protect applicants’ rights and ensure the interests of agents through market restructuring.
“Anyone who meets the relevant conditions and qualifications can apply to become an agent for the revamped MM2H, as qualified persons are needed to help promote and facilitate the programme,” he added.
On the same note, Tiong advises former agents who do not meet the new requirements to refrain from spreading rumours and disrupting the programme’s implementation.
According to him, any irresponsible agents are found doing so will be blacklisted.
“We have standardised the service charges for agents and specified the scope of services that agents must provide to applicants. This measure is to ensure that the interests of both agents and applicants are protected.
“Therefore, I hope all qualified agents will sincerely provide their services, working together to promote MM2H and contribute to the nation,” he said. — DayakDaily
