SIBU: The Federal Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) presented grants totaling RM1.188 million to five community-based rehabilitation centers (PPDK) today (Aug 3).

According to its minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Syukri, the recipients were the newly established PPDKs, namely PPDK Murni Dudong, PPDK Sibu, PPDK Nur Qaseh Nangka, PPDK Muhibbah Bawan Kanowit and PPDK Permai.

Nancy officiates the ceremony.

“InshaAllah, we will try to see how much more we can help them so that they can have more facilities, such as equipment for physiotherapy and training,” she said.

Nancy said this when met by reporters after launching the PPDK Permai and presenting the grants to the five recipients at PPDK Permai today (Aug 3).

The Santubong MP also hopes for increased community support for the PPDKs and Independent Living Centre (ILC).

She said that the ILC in Permai is the first to be established in Sarawak.

“My hope is for more people to help, as the PPDKs and the ILC need more volunteers and financial resources to further develop and expand its activities,” she added.
