KUCHING, June 8: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) is determined to retain all eight seats currently represented by the party in the coming Sarawak Election, says its president Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing.
Tiong said PDP’s strength lies not in its history alone but in its ability to continue serving the people and earning their trust.
“I urge all party members and supporters to stay united, remain loyal, and give their full commitment to ensuring that the party’s mission and efforts to bring development to the people can be carried forward,” he said in a Facebook post today after attending a Gawai Dayak 2026 community luncheon in Engkilili yesterday.
The federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture also praised the spirit of unity and cooperation among the people of Engkilili, saying harmony and solidarity are essential foundations for community development and progress.
On the occasion of Gawai Dayak, Tiong described the annual celebration as an important cultural heritage that must be preserved and passed down to future generations.
He said the festival serves as a platform for families and relatives to gather while strengthening appreciation for Dayak identity and traditions.
Tiong also highlighted Engkilili’s tourism potential, pointing to its natural beauty, Iban cultural heritage, longhouses, rivers, and strong community spirit as attractions capable of drawing more visitors to the area.
He extended Gawai greetings to the Dayak community, wishing them prosperity, peace, and happiness. — DayakDaily
