Pre-dawn fire causes partial damage to cafe

KUCHING: A café located at Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Ahmad Zaidi Adruce had its wet kitchen damaged in an early morning fire today (July 16).

The aftermath of the early morning fire that caused 60 per cent damages to the wet kitchen of a café.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Batu Lintang and Padungan stations were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 4.58am.

Upon arrival, they found the wet kitchen at the back of the café ablaze while extinguishing works were carried out to stop the fire.

The flames caused about 60 per cent damage to the kitchen area of the premises, which is located on the first floor of the four-storey commercial block.

Once the situation was deemed safe and no more risk of reignition, the firefighters ended the operation at 6.20am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
