KUCHING (July 25): The Regional Corridor Development Agency (Recoda) has highlighted Sarawak’s iconic Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) at the Selangor Investment Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) 2024 in Kuala Lumpur today.
Recoda in a statement today emphasised on its role in attracting global investors by providing connectivity through the implementation of basic infrastructure and conducive industrial ecosystem.
Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) in Bintulu stands as a premier industrial hub in Sarawak, designed to attract heavy and energy-intensive industries, it said.
It offers a power source from renewable energy generated by the Bakun Dam, located in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) region.
“Since its establishment under Score in 2008, SIP has attracted significant private investment, with total approved investments amounting to RM56.67 billion,” said Recoda.
The park houses 14 esteemed investors, including Wenan Steel (M) Sdn Bhd, OCIKumho Sdn Bhd and LONGi Malaysia – all of which are undergoing site construction.
Attending the launch of the expo was Recoda Chief Executive Officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni, who said Recoda previously participated in the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) under a different category.
This year, he said Recoda’s participation targets the right investors to choose Samalaju Industrial Park as their preferred investment destination.
“Our participation in SPARK 2024 underscores our commitment to showcasing the vast potential of the Samalaju Industrial Park.
“This industrial hub is pivotal to Sarawak’s economic landscape, offering immense opportunities for investors and manufacturers.
“We are here to forge new partnerships and demonstrate the strategic advantages that Samalaju Industrial Park presents to the global investment community,” Ismawi said.
He added that aside from SIP, Recoda is also spotlighting mega projects such as the Northen Coastal Highway (NCH), the New Lawas Deep Water Port, Lawas New Airport, Integrated Highland Agriculture Station (IHAS) Masterplan and Collection Processing and Packaging Centre (CPPC) Project in Spaoh, Betong, and Sungai Baji, Sarikei.
He also took the opportunity during the expo to promote the Border Development Project, which includes road access to Long Banga, to Bario and from Bario to Ba’kelalan, and mentioned that the construction of the CIQ nearby, that will open up cross trade between Sarawak and Indonesia through Nusantara.

Agencies’ potential socio-economic products such as the Stingless Bee Honey (Madu Kelulut) in URDA, coffee in HDA and Songket and Fish Cage Farming (Penternakan Ikan dalam Sangkar) in NRDA.
During SPARK 2024, Recoda was also highlighting its socio-economic programmes as well, such as the Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) 2022-2026, COMMUNITY@SCORE and EMPLOY@SCORE which aim to improve the income generation and livelihoods of the poor communities in Score, and government initiatives such as Initiative Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR) (or People’s Income Initiative) and Basmi Miskin Tegar (BMT) (or hardcore poverty eradication).
Recoda is located at Booth 2042-2045, Hall 1 & 2, in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from today (July 25) to July 27.
