Registration opens for DAP fun run on August 31

KUCHING: The DAP Fun Run 2024 is set to take place on August 31 at Dewan Masyarakat Batu 10 Kota Padawan.

Special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman, Michael Kong said the event will be filled with exciting fitness and community spirit.

“The tradition of our activities is that after the run, participants stay together, eat, drink, and communicate. This is part of our culture,” he said during a press conference at DAP headquarters today (July 11).

The Fun Run will feature three categories of distances: 3km run, 7km run and 15km run.

The registration fee for 3km is RM20, for the 7km run it will be RM40 and the 15km run is RM60.

“The registration fees are inclusive of a T-shirt and a dinner voucher. However, due to space limitations, the event is capped at 500 participants only.

According to Kong, the attractive cash prizes await the winners for the 7km and 15km categories.

“For the 7km run, the first place will get RM500, second place is RM400, third place RM300, fourth place RM200, and the fifth place also get to receive RM100.

“For the 15km run, the cash prizes are higher with the champion receiving RM1000, the first runner up will get RM800, the second runner up bring home RM600. Additionally, the fourth and fifth places will stand a chance to win RM200 respectively. And other participants finishing in the sixth to tenth places will each receive RM100.

The run will start at various timing, whereby the 15km run will start at 2pm; the 7km at 3pm and the 3km begin at 4pm.
