KUCHING: The allocation of RM20 million from the government is indeed a timely move to further empower the E-sports ecosystem in Malaysia.

Sarawak Esports Association (SESA) president Afiq Fadhli Narawi said that the funding will create broader opportunities for talent development at the grassroots level, provide better infrastructure, and enhance the competitiveness of local teams on the international stage.

“In Sarawak, we are also working hard to develop the e-sports ecosystem at the state level.

“With closer support and collaboration between the government, private sector, and the e-sports community, we believe Sarawak can become one of the key e-sports hubs in Malaysia,” he said in a statement here, today (Oct 18).

Afiq said that allocations like this will certainly aid other states, including Sarawak, in accelerating the growth of the e-sports industry.

“We hope more youth from Sarawak will be inspired by this success to actively engage in e-sports, and we at the Sarawak ESports Association are committed to nurturing local talents through more comprehensive programmes, including competitions, workshops, and collaborative initiatives with various stakeholders,” he added.

Therefore, he said that as the president of the Sarawak ESports Association, he would like to congratulate Selangor Red Giants on their outstanding achievement.
