Sarawak Metro: New Kuching International Airport carpark in the works until Jan 17

KUCHING (Oct 19): The current carpark at the Kuching International Airport will be repurposed for the construction of a future Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) station there, said Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro).

As such, new parking spaces will now be built at the airport, it explained in a post on social media.

It revealed the work on the new carpark has commenced since Oct 17 and is expected to continue until January 16 next year.

“Road users are advised to exercise caution when driving in the area and adhere to all traffic management measures, road warning signs and speed limits which are in place to ensure everyone’s safety,” said Sarawak Metro.

Meanwhile, a notice posted by them said the construction of the new carpark is part of the infrastructure works for the Red Line from Kuching Sentral to Pending under Phase 1 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System project.

It said the construction work would be carried out from 9.30am-4.30pm and 7pm-4.30am.
