MIRI (Aug 23): Six people cheated death when the car they were traveling in caught fire following a single vehicle accident on the Miri-Pujut flyover late last night.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Control Centre said a distress call on the incident was received at 11.57pm.

A team of personnel from the Miri Fire and Rescue Station was despatched to the scene at 11.58pm and arrived at the location at 12.03am.

“The fire involved a Perodua Alza, which had been completely burnt in the incident.

“All six people inside the vehicle managed to escape from the burning vehicle unhurt,” Bomba said in a statement.

Firefighters took around six minutes to get the fire under control.

The operation ended at 12.48am.
