Submitted photos for Sukma XXI contest to feature in coffee table book

KUCHING (Sept 27): Submitted photographs for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI Photography and Videography competition will be featured in an upcoming coffee table book, said Deputy State Secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee.

He said numerous photographs were submitted for the competition, and many of them will be featured in a coffee table book that the Sukma secretariat will publish.

“It is going to be a memorable and historical collection of photos, with some creative write-ups,” he said, adding that the book will be published soon and unveiled during the Sukma appreciation dinner.

Hii said this during a press conference, which also saw a prize presentation ceremony for the competition, held at Bangunan Baitulmakmur II in Petra Jaya here today.

Elaborating on the competition, he said it was organised to make the event livelier as well as to uncover local talents, particularly among the youth, in photography and videography.

The competition received a total of 1,078 entries in the photography category and 59 entries in the videography category.

In the Open Photography category, Ahmad Izzrafiq Alias was crowned the winner and brought home RM3,000, while second and third place went to Mohmad Nahari Naha and Juna Medan, respectively.

In the Youth Photography category, Muhammad Haziq Aqil was in first place and bagged RM2,000, while Gregory Tan Wei and Azizan Yakub won second and third place, respectively, and brought home RM1,000 and RM750.

Meanwhile, in the Videography category, Sylvester Alex Wong won the first prize of RM2,000, while Yunus Yussop and Mohd Faisal Ahmad secured second and third places, respectively, with prizes of RM1,000 and RM750.
