Sukma XXI: Brunei expected to participate in 11 sporting events

KUCHING (July 16): Brunei is expected to participate in 11 sporting events throughout the 21st Malaysian Games (Sukma), said Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“I myself have personally went to Brunei and invited their Youth and Sports Minister to attend the Sukma’s officiating ceremony.

“I can also see that many Bruneian fans have texted me, saying that they will also come in during the officiation ceremony, some of them even wanted tickets to join in the ceremony,” he told a press conference held at a hotel here today.

He added that among the sporting events Brunei is expected to participate in Sukma include chess, esports, fencing, karate, pencak silat, sepak takraw, taekwondo and wushu.

With that in mind, he expects many Brunei supporters coming into Sarawak to support their contingent throughout the sporting event.
