KUCHING (July 11): Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), through its Tegas Digital Village, is launching its first Unreal Engine training initiative in Sarawak, which is set to run from Aug 13 to 17.
The training, a collaborative effort with EFXCO Academy and Borneo Digital, is meant to empower locals in high-income creative industries and unlock digital business opportunities.
“This five-day intensive course, led by authorised trainers, aims to equip participants with advanced skills in Unreal Engine, which is a leading real-time 3D creation tool used in gaming, film, architecture and automotive industries,” said Tegas in a statement yesterday.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development and Tegas chairman Datu Len Talif Salleh, in the same statement, added the programme aligns with the state’s Post Covid-19 Strategy (PCDS) 2030 as it fosters high-value digital skills and local talent.
“We are thrilled to launch this initiative, which underscores our commitment to fostering high-value digital skills and aligns perfectly with the key enabler Education and Human Capital Development under PCDS 2030,” he said.
Tegas said that Unreal Engine, developed by Epic Games, is known for its high-fidelity graphics and versatility, supporting both 2D and 3D design for various industries.
“It is also pivotal in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) development, creating immersive experiences for education, training and entertainment,” it added.
Meanwhile, EFXCO Academy chief executive officer Hussin Khan noted that the course covers all critical aspects of Unreal Engine, preparing participants for diverse applications and aiming to foster economic growth in Sarawak through high-quality training.
“Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of the tool and its diverse applications, preparing them to utilise Unreal Engine effectively in various settings.
“Working together with Tegas and Borneo Digital in offering this high-quality training, we aim to empower Sarawakians to engage in high-income creative industries and foster economic growth in the state,” said Hussin.
