KUCHING, June 7: Firefighters managed to put out the fire that swept through an oil palm plantation in Kampung Kupang, Saratok, on the second day of the operation today.
In a report, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighting operations were carried out using a portable pump with one 500-foot hose line drawing water from an open water source.
“Extinguishment efforts focused on the burning undergrowth and continued until the fire was completely extinguished at 12.10pm today,” said the report.
The operation involved five firefighters, five Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel, and 10 villagers.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
The fire was reported to have broken out on June 6 at the Scheme C oil palm plantation in Kampung Kupang. — DayakDaily
