Volunteer group collects 2,500kg of trash at commercial centre in Kuching

KUCHING (Dec 22): International volunteer organisation Asez Wao collected some 2,500kg of trash during a clean-up programme at Sunny Park Commercial Centre here yesterday.

The programme was part of the Green Earth project, and was held at Lorong Dogan, Sunny Park involving 30 volunteers. They collected plastic cups and bags, straws, cigarette butts, and beverage cans.

In a statement, Asez Wao said they hoped that their volunteers’ engagement would help keep the community clean and boost residents’ environmental awareness.

“This activity is part of our effects to ensure happiness and a sustainable future.”

They later painted murals on a 20m section in Taman Mesra Bako Community Hall here.

Also known as Save the Earth from A to Z, We are One Family, Asez Wao is a volunteer group under the World Mission Society Church of God led by General Pastor Kim Joo Cheol, and has also been involved in clean-up activities beyond the state such as Peace Park in Kota Kinabalu, Sunway City in Selangor, and Danau Kota in Kuala Lumpur.
