Woman succumbs to injuries sustained in accident in Miri

MIRI (July 15): A 32-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at Miri Hospital after an accident at Jalan Airport here on Friday.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement today said the victim was pronounced dead at 12.40am while receiving treatment.

He said the accident, which occurred at 2.32pm, involved a Mitsubishi Triton and Perodua Viva.

“Initial investigation found the accident happened when the Mitsubishi Triton, that came from the city centre, had lost control and skidded into the opposite direction.

“It then crashed into the oncoming Perodua Viva, resulting in injuries to the driver and his wife. The 75-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi Triton sustained light injury to his forehead,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
