Youth get their say in town hall

KUCHING: Over 500 youth turned up for a positive and engaging ‘Kembara Jumpa Orang Muda’ town hall session here yesterday.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim, who attended the event at the Sarawak Youth and Sports Complex, highlighted Sarawak’s special status in hosting the programme in three different districts.

“This is our 11th stop for the Kembara Jumpa Orang Muda, and we’ve given Sarawak special attention by holding it in multiple locations,” he said.

“Usually, we only visit one place per state, but for Sarawak, we’re covering Kuching, Sibu and Miri.”

Speaking to reporters after the launch, Adam emphasised the importance of gathering direct feedback from the youth to strengthen the ministry’s relationship with Sarawak’s young population.

“The first town hall session has been very encouraging,” he said.

“This direct interaction allows us to obtain diverse perspectives and insights. Without this firsthand experience, crafting policies that truly resonate with everyone becomes challenging.”

Confident about the future, he expressed the ministry’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Sarawak government through regular visits.

Also present was Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.
