Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will continue acting as a fortress against divisive politics, even as Peninsular Malaysia grapples with new “problems”, says GPS chairman Abang Johari Openg.
Abang Johari said the ruling state coalition’s approach to governing Sarawak was one of the key reasons the Bornean state had remained stable, progressive, and held in high regard, Borneo Post reported.
“Looking at the situation in the peninsula, there are problems now. If the country is chaotic, we will have problems.
“However, what is important is that we continue safeguarding Sarawak’s stability and try to prevent that culture from coming over to Sarawak.
“That is why it is very, very important for us to defend Sarawak. We in GPS will continue to carry out our responsibilities,” he was quoted as telling GPS’s state assembly backbenchers last night.
Abang Johari, the Sarawak premier, did not elaborate on the “problems” he said had developed in West Malaysia.
