KUCHING: Medical practitioners need to participate in all courses, seminars or conferences to stay abreast of the latest advancements in medical technology.
Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar stressed the significance of engaging in both domestic and foreign partnerships in fostering the growth of the medical sector in the state.
“By attending such programmes, we can ensure the medical sector in the state is in line with current developments.
“At the same time, to be able to equip yourself with the latest information and knowledge,” he said to reporters after officiating at the Klinik Kitak opening at Metrocity, Petra Jaya here Sunday (Nov 12).
Asfia also highlighted the potential of technological development in the medical sector to boost medical tourism in the state.
This, he believes, would not only enhance the quality of healthcare services but also contribute to the economic growth of the region.
In addition, he urged medical graduates to consider gaining valuable experience by serving in government hospitals in the state.
With the high number of patients and emergency cases brought to public hospitals, he stated this can serve as a platform for graduates to acquire practical and quality medical experiences.
“When they (the graduates) are exposed to such situations, they will gain useful experience in the hospital, thus training them to navigate unexpected situations.
“This experience will lead to the birth of more competent and efficient doctors, thus improving the quality of medicine in this state,” he explained.
