Batang Kayan Regatta returns with RM65,000 prize pool

LUNDU: The prestigious water sports event, Batang Kayan Regatta 2024, is back to delight its fans.

This race will span three days from July 26 to 28 along Sungai Batang Kayan, Lundu.

Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Anuar Adenan, announced that this year’s race offers a total cash prize of RM65,000.

Azizul mentioned that 17 categories will be contested over the three-day event.

“We have received unexpectedly high participation with 20 teams registered so far.

“Teams are representing various areas including Lundu, Sematan, Kuching, Kota Samarahan, and Gedong,” he told reporters at Medan Selera Lundu earlier today (July 18).

Among the highlighted categories are the 10-man logboat, 15-man bidar, mixed teams of 20, 20-man category, VIP 20-man category, 25-man category (ADUN N. Tanjong Datu Cup), 30-man marathon (4km), and 30-man category (Raja Sungai).

“What’s particularly exciting is the 30-man race offering a RM12,000 cash prize for the ‘Raja Sungai’ title,” Azizul added.
