KUCHING, Jan 21: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin today witnessed the official handover of the RM300,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project to upgrade the Batu 7 Covered Basketball Stadium, and also inspected a completed pedestrian walkway in the area.
The handover involved the Letter of Award being presented to contractor An-Nashr Resources for the Phase 2 upgrade of the stadium under RTP 2025. The project includes the construction of two changing rooms with shower facilities, resurfacing of the court, a new car park, and a new entrance to improve traffic flow during peak hours.
Accoding to Yap, the upgrade aims to enhance the stadium’s facilities and accessibility for residents who frequently use the venue for sports and community activities.
On the same day, he carried out a final inspection of the completed RM39,000 RTP 2023 pedestrian walkway upgrade in Batu 7.

“The projects were identified based on feedback from residents and on-site assessments carried out together with relevant agencies,” he said in a recent statement.
He added that RTP projects in Kota Sentosa are implemented in close coordination with the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to ensure they address practical community needs.
Yap also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working with the council and other agencies to bring further development projects to the constituency. — DayakDaily
