KUCHING, July 18: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) is set to host a ‘Unity Night’ concert on July 20 at the Tapak Kaul Mukah main stage in Mukah.

According to a YPS press release, the event, which begins at 8pm, promises to be an unforgettable evening of celebrating unity in diversity through a captivating cultural showcase of songs, music, and dance performances.

Central to the evening’s festivities are the YPS Sape ambassadors, who represent the diverse ethnicities of Sarawak, including Melanau, Iban, Bidayuh, Chinese, and a special guest from Sabah’s Kadazan Dusun community.

The Unity Night concert aims to celebrate and promote unity in diversity, with a particular focus on the cultural heritage of the Melanau people.

“Among the performances for the night are Melanau’s traditional dance, the local favourite singer from Sibu, Wanie Alias, and the famous entertainers Iwan Haji Dasri and Morse Uotye, who will also make their appearances to liven up the stage.

“YPS believes Kaul Mukah can be one of the platforms to showcase the beauty of unity in diversity,” the release stated.

Meanwhile, YPS Chief Executive Datu Aloysius J Dris, expressed his excitement for the event.

“Through Unity Night, we hope to exemplify how different ethnic groups can come together in celebration, showcasing the spirit of harmony.”

He further acknowledged the support of Persatuan Melanau Mukah for entrusting YPS with the opportunity to highlight the State’s success in bridging various races together.

“We are proud to showcase our talented YPS Sape ambassadors and promote unity by highlighting Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage through this stage show,” he added.

YPS invites all residents of Mukah and Sarawak to join the celebration at Tapak Kaul Mukah for an evening of cultural celebration and unity.
