KUCHING (July 20): The police are tracking down a suspect who was caught in a widely-circulated video on social media damaging a vehicle at a residential estate in Kota Samarahan recently.
Kota Samarahan district police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said a report had been lodged by the female victim on July 19 after her vehicle was suddenly hit by the suspect while she was driving on the road.
“The victim’s vehicle was hit by the suspect, believed to be of unsound mind, using a wooden stick while she was driving in the neighbourhood.
“The incident caused damage to the tail light of the vehicle, resulting in a loss of RM1,200 for the victim,” said Jaimi in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage to property which carries an imprisonment of between one to five years or a fine, or both, if convicted.
The police urge members of the public who witnessed the incident to come forward to any police station to assist in the investigation, or contact investigating officer Inspector Mohammad Adri on 014-8651605.
