Exciting events in store for visitors of  Kuching Jazz Festival

KUCHING: This year’s Kuching Jazz 2024 will feature a series of exciting activities leading up to the main festival.

Mark James Santi Ferguson, the chief executive officer of Hemisphere Corporation cum organiser of Kuching Jazz 2024, said a total of three events will precede the main festival on Oct  4 to 5 at the Kuching Waterfront.

“The first event would be “Love in A Box” Campaign (Sept 27 to Oct 5), a heart-warming community initiative aimed at spreading joy and support within the local community.

“The second event is the Charity JazzGala Dinner (Sept 28), an event dedicated to raising fund for local charities and the third event would be the jazzing competition and blood donation drive (Oct 1 to 2) with an electrifying competition at the Kuching Waterfront Amphitheatre on the first day, showcasing emerging jazz talent.

The second day will see a jazz and blood donation drive and music enthusiasts are invited to donate blood while enjoying the jazz performance,” he said during the launching ceremony of the Kuching Jazz 2024 at Riverside Majestic Hotel here, yesterday (July 17).

Mark later announced that the team from Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) has also been appointed as the event management for this year’s festival.

“SCV not only celebrates the cultural diversity of Sarawak but it has evolved into a premier event organiser with a remarkable track record in event management,” he added.

The launching ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz, and the jazz music festival will feature some of the biggest names in jazz music, namely Improvisor, Sang Timur, Suhu, Zee Avi, and Aruel Ariel and The Fasola.

For the record, Kuching Jazz started way back in 2017, and is a vibrant celebration of music diversity, uniting talented artists from around the world to showcase a fusion of genres and culture.

The festival’s mission is to position Sarawak and Malaysia as premier event destinations while firmly establishing Kuching as a global hotspot for jazz enthusiasts.

Kuching Jazz 2024 is expected to attract a diverse audience, including music enthusiasts, tourists and residents, who will come together to celebrate the rich tapestry of entertainment that defines the region.
