Fine weather blesses Malaysia Day

KUCHING: The Malaysia Day 2026 celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Wednesday (Sept 16) ran smoothly, with favourable weather helping ensure the national-level event proceeded successfully.

Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah said the smooth running of the celebration was made possible through the cooperation and support of all parties involved.

He said the weather conditions were also favourable, providing a positive indication for the successful conduct of the celebration themed “Malaysia MADANI Sejahtera Dinikmati”.

“Certainly, with everyone’s prayers, the event was able to proceed smoothly, particularly as the weather also permitted it, giving a very positive indication that the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration could be carried out successfully,” he told a press conference after the celebration at BCCK on Wednesday.

Abdul Halim expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration.

He also thanked Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah for their roles in ensuring the event was successfully organised.

“Certainly, the organising committee for Malaysia Day 2026, together with my team, would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who came together to make it a success,” he said.

He said appreciation was particularly extended to both the federal and state ministers responsible for the celebration, who had contributed to ensuring the arrangements for Malaysia Day 2026 were successfully carried out.

Abdul Halim also thanked Malaysians, particularly the people of Sarawak, for coming together to attend and celebrate the occasion at BCCK.

Some 6,000 people attended the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration.

Earlier, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar graced the celebration.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
