Fire destroys foreign workers’ quarters at Jln Tatau

BINTULU (July 30): A fire broke out at the workers’ quarters in Kampung Extension Tatau, Jalan Tatau, Bintulu this afternoon.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said firefighters from the Tatau fire station were dispatched to the scene following a distress call received at 3.55pm.

The blaze completely destroyed one block of the workers’ quarters, which consisted of 12 units.

All 29 residents, who were Indonesian and Bangladeshi nationals, managed to escape without casualties.

The fire was brought under control by 4.08pm and fully extinguished by 5:35pm.
