Fire razes wooden house in Kampung Melayu, Samarahan

KUCHING (July 6): A double-storey wooden house in Kampung Melayu in Samarahan near here was destroyed in a fire around 2.54pm today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said no casualties were reported from the fire.

Firefighters from the Kota Samarahan and Asajaya stations managed to control the blaze with two water nozzles with water from a nearby fire hydrant.

The house, which measured approximately 260 square meters, was almost completely destroyed.

After ensuring that the fire would not reignite, Bomba wrapped up the operation at 4.08pm.
