Five local startups emerge winners of TEGAS Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp

KUCHING: Five startups from across Sarawak, namely OINC Sdn Bhd, Koperasi Opah, Toclan Agrotech Company, Borneo Glamping and Teduh Jiwa Counselling and Consultancy emerged as the top five winners of the TEGAS Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp 2024 Demo Day Batch #6.

The top five winners received a special prize award from Cradle via the MYStartup Sarawak initiative, amounting to RM2,500 each.

Winners also enjoy free access to the TEGAS Digital Village in Kuching and the TEGAS Digital Innovation Hub in Bintulu and Miri, as well as other perks such as company incorporation support from TEGAS and Essential package on Sarawak Cloud.

Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) chairman, Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that the entrepreneur-founded businesses are the backbone of state economy, boosting Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating employment opportunities.

“The Sarawak government has long recognised the importance of supporting and encouraging local entrepreneurs, he said during the TEGAS Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp 2024 Demo Day at TEGAS Digital Village here on Saturday (July 6).

“Through TEGAS, the government has established the TEGAS Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hubs in Kuching, Bintulu, and Miri. These initiatives provide access to various programmes designed to accelerate the growth of early-stage startups and social enterprises in Sarawak,” he said.

Len, the Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment also said that TEGAS are on the right track in supporting the government in achieving its vision of a thriving society by 2030 driven by data and innovation.

“To date, we have supported more than 200 local startups and social enterprises during the most crucial stage of their development through various acceleration programmes.

“Our programmes are designed to provide startups with the necessary resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to excel.

“Through our accelerators, we aim to foster innovation and support the development of groundbreaking technologies that can drive significant impact and growth,” he concluded.
