Jejak Harmoni initiative to strengthen unity among Malaysian

MIRI: The Ministry of National Unity senior undersecretary (Management) Norihan Mohamed Naim reminded Malaysia citizens about the importance of instilling and disseminating the good values of understanding, respect, and acceptance with each other to maintain harmony and unity.

She made these remarks when officiating the ‘Jejak Harmoni’ state-level 2024 event on behalf of National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in Miri yesterday.

“The government plays a crucial role in formulating policies to ensure the unity of the Malaysian community remains stable,” she said.

“However, it is essential that these efforts are embraced by every level of society, as collective participation is vital to realising the unity agenda set by the government,” she added.

Norihan highlighted that without the support and commitment of all citizens, government policies and agendas cannot be fully realised.

“One of the goals of the ministry is it aims to strengthen the harmony of Malaysia’s diverse society, which includes various races and religious affiliations,” she said.

The Sarawak state-level programme features activities at several locations, including Masjid An-Naim, The Good Shepherd Church, Life Methodist Church, and Shak Lung Kung Temple.

This initiative comprises eight major programmes implemented from February to November 2024. It spans across the international, national, and state levels, reflecting a comprehensive approach to fostering unity.

The key programmes are: World Interfaith Harmony Week ;Podcast Talk Harmony; Interfaith Dialogue or Harmonious Dialogue; Iftar MADANI ; Documentary Traces of Harmony ; Traces of Harmony; Discourse Fosters Unity Among Adherents of Various Religions and World Tolerance Day.

The ‘Jejak Harmoni’ event emphasised the ministry’s commitment to promoting a harmonious social landscape in Malaysia, where people of different backgrounds can coexist peacefully.
