K-Pop stars Rain and Jessi to headline Borneo Sonic Music Festival

KUCHING: International K-Pop sensations Rain and Jessi will headline the Borneo Sonic Music Festival (BSMF) 2024, scheduled for Oct 11-12 at Sarawak Stadium in Kuching.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, announced the exciting line-up, expressing confidence that the star-studded roster will draw over 36,000 attendees to the festival.

Joining Rain and Jessi on stage will be Indonesian superstars Bunga Citra Lestari (BCL) and Judika, along with Malaysia’s own popular group Dolla, among other notable artists.

“Sarawak has become a favoured destination, with tourist arrivals surpassing the four million mark annually.

“This year, packed with events like Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 and various entertainment programs, promises to attract even more visitors. The announcement of BSMF 2024 will surely enhance this appeal,” he said during a press conference.

Other performers include Jess Lee Jia Wei, the first Malaysian winner of Taiwan’s Chinese Million Star, and Priscilla Abby, a renowned Malaysian Mandopop singer and actress.

The festival will also feature the Borneo Sonic Food Carnival at Stadium Square, offering a culinary delight with 50 food and beverage vendors and 20 stalls showcasing arts and crafts.

For those looking for a unique experience, the BSMF 2024 Camping area at Football Field D (Padang D), just 200m from Sarawak Stadium, offers a glamping experience.

Fitness and music enthusiasts can look forward to the Borneo Sonic Music Run on Oct 12. This 3km run at Sarawak Stadium starts at 7am and aims to attract 1,000 participants.
