BINTULU (July 31): Heads of households affected by the fire in Kampung Baru Tatau here received cash relief aid by the Bintulu Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIB) on Tuesday.
Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, along with Tatau District administrative officer Raden Azamry Raden Perhan, handed over the financial aid to the fire victims.
Iskandar, who is also LAKIB chairman, expressed hope that this would help alleviate the burdens of the families.
The fire last Friday, July 26 destroyed four houses in Kampung Baru Tatau, leaving twenty-nine people homeless.
Tatau Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station chief Jankey Jikat in an initial report said firefighters were dispatched to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 3:26pm.
The fire was reported to have destroyed four vehicles belonging to the residents. No casualties were reported as the residents managed to escape safely.
